Why are some more valuable than others?
Three main reasons are -
1) The age 2) Origin & quality of workmanship 3) Documentation
Documentation is by far one of the most important, with a document, you can verify 1 & 2 .
Collecting antique oil & kerosene lamps has become more popular over the past 5 years which has made them harder to find.
Unfortunately due to this and because of the demand, there are large number of 18th century fakes
that are now in the market place catching unsuspecting buyers unaware.
(These new or new reproduction lamps are made to look antique and sold as an antique)
To protect our clients, our new antiqued art glass lamps will be certified, dated and
sold as a new lamp, signed by John Gannon and stamped AKOLA
By doing so will show proof & documentation of age for the future and will therefore
become a genuine collectable item.
As from 2005 all our art glass lamps that we manufacture will have A K O L A and or our trademark Duplex Australia
stamped on them.
All lamps will be photographed and documented in our catalogues for authenticity.
